Benedetto Giallongo Steps Down As European Fleet President, Nominations Currently Being Accepted
From Benedetto Giallongo, International Vice Chairman (EUR), Fleet President for the Audi Melges 20 Class:
November 29, 20100 — A meeting of the European Fleet Executive Committee was recently held in Milan that included myself, the Technical Committee consisting of Federico Albano, Alessandro Molla and Dario Levi as well as Class Secretary, Paola Spreafico and Federico Michetti representing Melges Europe, to focus on improving the class and creating a Board of Directors to support the Fleet President.
I have served as Fleet President for two years and my term is now complete. The last two years have been filled with great personal satisfaction and success. I thank everyone that has been so supportive, especially Harry Melges and the Melges Europe team.
It has been a pleasure to have been involved with the birth of the Audi Melges 20, and to now see it with more than 45 active owners racing in Italy and Europe is incredible. I take great pride in this. I hope that with my succession, the new Fleet President builds it further, continues to strengthen the class’ relationship with our international sponsor as well as look to grow the fleet throughout Europe – Germany, England and Switzerland.
To keep the momentum positive, beginning Monday, November 29 through Monday, December 6 the Audi Melges 20 European Fleet will be accepting nominations for Fleet President. If additional nominations are still being accepted on Tuesday, December 7, we may extend the nomination period. We have only received one nomination thus far for Federico Albano, Owner of ITA-137 3 Menda. If no other nominations are submitted, by default Federico will become Fleet President.
All nominations should be supplied to Audi Melges 20 European Fleet Sectretary Paola Spreafico in a timely manner via e-mail.
