The high-level sportboat racing product, service and sales distributor Melges Europe is offering two exclusive speed clinic weekend opportunities to Audi Melges 20 and Melges 32 owners. This is your chance to try on some hot performance as the 2011 season will be here before you know it. In the exquisite location of Malcesine, Italy on October 16-17, then again on November 6-7, Melges Europe invites everyone to save the dates. Be there to absorb the talents and experience of Italian Sailing Team 470 Coach Guglielmo Vatteroni and Melges Europe President, Federico Michetti. Both experiences will be invaluable to teams ramping up their programs for 2011 Audi Sailing Series competition!

Everyone please take note of the new class rules that have been published. These rules are effective immediately and you should familiarize yourself with the changes that have occurred. There have been numerous changes throughout the document and while we encourage everyone to take the time to review the rules in their entirety, here is a list of the major changes.

• Mainsheet purchase has been amended to a minimum of 3:1 purchase. (C.9.6)

• Tapered sheets are now allowed for jib and main. (C.9.6)

• Optional design purchase systems to allow easier shroud car movement are allowed. (C.6.1)

• Helm rule wording has been updated. (Appendix 8.)

• Sail button royalty for all sails and installed by sailmakers. (G.2.4 & Appendix 3)

• Sail limitation marks wording updated. (I.2)

For full clarification, all Audi Melges 20 owners should be aware that the four sanctioned events relating to sail button purchase in 2009 were:

• U.S. National Championship
• Audi Melges 20 Miami Winter Series Event No. 1

Per the class rules, all competitors racing Audi Melges 20s must be a member of the class. Join The Class Today. This is for the 2010 season.

Eric Wynsma: Anyone care to add $0.02 to the discussion in the guide about hoist launching? Looks a little sketchy with the bow going ‘up’ in the air unless we can rig a different hoist attachment point further aft?

The hoist at most yacht clubs are certainly more than capable of lifting this thing but how do we manage the fore/aft conundrum and keep the rig and spreaders out of the crane arm ?
