Dear Audi Melges 20 owners,
Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series is about to kick-off.
After our last meeting and having collected some suggestion and feedback from owners, the International Audi Melges 20 Class Association (IM20CA) Executive Committee, in collaboration with the International Sailing Authority Federation (ISAF) has developed a new, comprehensive helmsman application.

We sincerely apologize by asking you to fill it again, especially if you had already done so prior, but we are sure you will understand that we are working in the best interest and growth of the class. Please return the completed form by Monday, April 20, 2009.
In accordance with the International Audi Melges 20 Rules, a Committee evaluating the helmsman applications must be established. This new body will be composed of five owners and two experts holding two-year terms. Their duties and requirements of the the Melges 20 Class Rules are detailed in the Appendix 8, Helmsman Application. The two experts will be selected by the IM20CA Executive Committee.
If you wish to be a part of the committee as an owner representative, we ask you to express your own candidature via e-mail. Should more than five individuals be interested a vote will be held. In this circumstance, we will provide a list of owners in order to state your own opinion on the possible five candidates. Everyone is reminded that Monday, April 20th is the firm deadline for the submitting the new helmsman application.
Please know that the International Audi Melges 20 Rules are matters under discussion in partnership with ISAF in the interest of improvement. We encourage everyone to be part of the process. Any and all suggestions and comments are well appreciated.

Eric Wynsma: Anyone care to add $0.02 to the discussion in the guide about hoist launching? Looks a little sketchy with the bow going ‘up’ in the air unless we can rig a different hoist attachment point further aft?
The hoist at most yacht clubs are certainly more than capable of lifting this thing but how do we manage the fore/aft conundrum and keep the rig and spreaders out of the crane arm ?
Eric Wynsma – Mr. Superfly himself commented a few weeks back about separately-scored Great Lakes Racing Circuit for the Audi Melges 20. So what do you guys and gals think? Eric is super-pumped about the new baby, but needs some input about the circuit.
Three of the four events scheduled so far are solidified, however the grand finale… is your yacht club worthy or, would you like to add something in between? This is all yours so make it great!

It won’t be long until the Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series kicks off! All those expected to participate are gently reminded that Thursday, April 16th is the deadline for turning in helmsman applications. Please fill it in completely and submit to the IAM20CA, or fax to +39 029 443 5079.
