Kiss With A HUGE Lead On Final Day At Nationals

Michael Kiss has really put on a show this weekend at the 2010 Audi Melges 20 U.S. Nationals in Holland, MI. “Can you believe this?” said Kiss at the fleet dinner held at his home last evening which welcomed every AM20 team. Needless to say, Michael Kiss is unbelieveably happy but also in disbelief. He’s been working really hard on tweaking every little aspect of his program, so obviously Kiss has put a great deal of preparation into his performance. It certainly has paid off BIG.

After some late afternoon protests, the results re-sorted after last night’s release.

Kate Mullin on CAN-141 shuffled back to fourth after receiving a Z-Flag penalties in the second race on Saturday, moving John Arendshorst on Blink into second overall, Steve Sisson helming for Tony Tabb on USA-88 is now third. The top three positions are all occupied by Mactawa Bay Yacht Club members.

Kiss Still Strong After Two Races

Day two at Nationals is well underway with two races completed, one more to go. Michael Kiss on Bacio has managed to win both races one and two today as he is slowly, but surely begins to close the door on any chances of anyone else coming close to the trophy. The breeze was steady for the first race, yet lighter than yesterday. The second race, the breeze has diminished greatly creating catastrophe for second overall John Arendshorst on Blink and Simon Strauss on  Simplicity finishing deep. Instead, room was made for Steve Sisson driving for Tony Tabb on USA-88, Marc Hollerbach on Fu and Chuck Holzman on Flyer to finish well.

Race three has brought another four-legger and shorter legs. Six races will mark a throw out. With the breeze continuing to ease off, this should be interesting…

We know that several of you tune into the Audi Melges 20 blog during events for the latest reports from the course, however the connectivity on Lake Michigan is little to non-existant. We’ll be updating from the course as we can, however coverage is very spotty. Check out the Melges 20 on Facebook. When we find spots of access we’ll be pushing the latest blurbs there. We really appreciate everyone’s patience and thanks for tuning in.

For the second running of the U.S. Nationals, the fleet is full of fresh faces.
